The Participatory Science Platform supports collaborative projects that bring together communities and scientists or technologists on research investigating a locally-important question or problem.
We are supporting the different ways in which science and tech researchers, specialists and institutions can share their work and connect with other people, places and organisations.
As New Zealanders, we look to science for useful new technologies and evidence-based guidance on the most pressing issues facing our society today. But there cannot be a scientifically engaged public without a publicly engaged science sector.
We recognise the important role that the science sector plays in ensuring the public relevance of research, whether through saleable, new knowledge, innovations or policy-relevant results. Publicly funded science organisations and scientists have a social responsibility to share some level of knowledge where it’s applicable.
We support initiatives that help raise the public visibility of research. The Science Media Centre is a resource for the media that promotes evidence-based and up-to-date research, to help inform public debate on important issues.
