Staff from three south Auckland libraries are building community gardens in collaboration with local community groups, businesses and schools to increase the diversity and abundance of beneficial insects.

After a death in their community, students suggested creating garden in the school where they could have a quiet reflective area. To keep it thriving over the holidays, they are also developing a high tech watering system.

Students are identifying the environmental barriers and facilitators to being physically active, actively getting to school, eating healthily and having fun with learning about health.
