Schools, local groups and scientists are monitoring sites, collecting data and photographing marine communities in the Otago Harbour area. Over time this will show any changes to the species and habitats after dredging.

Students and teachers from three local schools near Tomahawk Lagoon in Dunedin, along with community members and water quality experts, are investigating how healthy their lagoon is and why algae grows there.

Community members are finding out how many pairs of kororā (Little Blue Penguin) nest in the Otago Peninsula and how successful they are at having and rearing chicks.
