Queenstown Primary School and partners will monitor 3 key sites in the Wakatipu Basin to objectively monitor vegetation change over time, with a focus on wilding pines.

The Seachange Survey project was set up to create a community survey method, in conjunction with local schools and with input from residents, to monitor the health and distribution of pāua and other kaimoana species.

Earthlore, bat scientists, DOC, Catlins Area School, and Tahakopa School are discovering where Long-tailed bats fly and forage in the region and matching the locations of bats to habitat and invertebrates present.

This community project will undertake a study of the critically endangered long-tail bat to define the home territory it occupies within Pūrangi, East Taranaki.

Rangatahi will discover their passion for science by learning about ecology, conservation & marine biology, by comparing their own backyard to Matiu Somes Island.

By collecting, analysing and mapping their own GPS data during an interactive field trip, students learn how mathematics helps us understand animal ecology resulting in effective control of pest mammals.

The project aims to reduce Japanese Honeysuckle at Paroa Lagoon with Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research biocontrol (white admiral butterfly), engaging Greymouth Year 12 Biology students and Paroa enviroschool students.

Students will learn how scientists work with biosecurity threats in Aotearoa, comparing myrtle rust with other rust fungi, discovering fungal life cycles and concepts about research into unwanted plant diseases.

Students will monitor two sites for invertebrates and vegetation, and record environmental factors to assess the restoration work on Taranaki’s riparian margins and in wetland ecosystems.

Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Mutunga will carry out a comprehensive estuarine assessment in the Urenui and Mimitangiatua estuaries and aim to establish what current and future threats may impact on the health of these important coastal areas.
