Queenstown Primary School and partners (QLDC, Department of Conservation, Skyline, Trees for Survival- ACCOR) will monitor 3 key sites in the Wakatipu Basin (Ben Lomond, Moke Lake and the Matagauri Wetland) to objectively monitor vegetation change over time, with a focus on wilding pines. Students will gather evidence around the part that they can play in controlling wilding pines and improving for future generations. For three years the school has mobilised over 1800 students to pull out Wilding Conifers at their local Adopt a plot site on Ben Lomond. They have pulled out a predicted 30,000 fledging seedlings. Here, they want to take their work to the next level and formally document this work.
